Final Preparation Day - Friday, 6/1/12

OK Gang...I'll start this discussion. JR & I will be heading over to our final meeting with the Downtown Disney team this morning & then it's back home to get my car & head over to the Coronado Springs Resort. I hope everyone is as excited as I am to be a part of this unique event. We are both looking forward to seeing all who entered the event & all those members who will come over to DD to support there fellow members. Remember...Drive safely. As JR mentions above, please use this discussion to post activities & photos of the Car Masters event.

Well it took 2 days to get everything "Photo-wise" the way I like to tell the whole story of an event so here are two slide shows of basically Day 1 & Day 2 of the Car Masters 2012 event. But before you check out the pictures....

First, let me sum up my feelings about this year's event. IT WAS AWESOME. What everyone should hope for is that an event gets bigger & better each time it's held & the Car Masters 2012 event was just that. Most of you have been very gracious with your comments but you have got to know that the visionary behind great events has been my friend JR. It takes a person with out-of-the-box thinking to work constantly & tirelessly on creating an event of this magnitude.

However, it also takes many other parts to complete the puzzle. Great hosts like Disney & Hess Express plus the many Downtown Disney vendors, dedicated teams of workers, volunteers & their families & most importantly...Members of a social site who show respect for their rides & the people who enjoy seeing them & talking about them. All of which helps to create friendships that could last a lifetime. Without you, there is no show  but we should always remember that "It is good to be important But it is more important to be Good". Good to our families & to our friends. So again, thank you all for your support & I look forward to seeing you all at upcoming events & hopefully at Car Masters 2013.

Downtown Disney revs up all things ‘Cars’ Saturday and Sunday

A classic car show with a modern twist and turn, Car Masters Weekend is back for its second year at Downtown Disney June 2-3, 2012. Celebrating everything “Cars,” the free, two-day event features a car show presented by Hess Express, meet and greets with Lightning McQueen, Mater and Finn McMissile and much more.

In a race for ‘Best in Show,’ car enthusiasts from the local Muscle Car Network of Central Florida will display more than 100 classic, muscle and exotic cars for families and judges to view. Guests are invited to vote for their favorite car to win the People’s Choice and Kid’s Choice awards.

Revving up the fun, legendary automotive designer Chip Foose will be making special appearances as one of the car show’s guest judges. Foose, who contributed to the design of Ramone in the Disney•Pixar ”Cars” film, also will be on hand for a signing of his Cars-inspired images, including Doc Hudson, Lightning McQueen, Flo, Ramone and Mater. On Sunday, June 3, Foose will sign original artwork for Guests at D Street.

New Car Masters elements this year include vehicles from the new Exotic Driving Experience at Walt Disney World Speedway; a LEGO interactive zone; High Performance Karting from Richard Petty Driving Experience and “Cars”-themed topiaries. Jay Ward, Disney•Pixar “Cars” filmmaker, also will make an appearance. In addition, fans can purchase tickets for an all-day “Cars” and ”Cars 2″ movie marathon at AMC Downtown Disney 24. Additionally, visitors have a chance to win prizes from Hess Express.

Returning events will include a chance for Guests to put the pedal to the metal with RIDEMAKERZ model cars; Disney face painters and tattoo artists; a DJ and several local food trucks. General Motors also will have their latest Chevrolet models on display, including the Corvette Grand Sport, Camaro Convertible and the Volt.

Chip Foose will sign his “Cars”-inspired images available for purchase at D Street, including Doc Hudson, Lightning McQueen and Mater. Guests will receive a wristband upon purchasing artwork which will allow you to meet Chip Foose and have your artwork signed. Limit TWO (2) items signed per Guest. We ask that you bring no personal items to be signed. Merchandise for signing must be purchased on the event day at the event location. Valid Walt Disney World Resort receipt may be required. Event and information are subject to change without notice including but not limited to dates, times, locations, artwork, release dates and retail prices. Appearances based on time and availability and are not guaranteed.

Queue for wrist-banded Guests will start at 2:30 p.m. in front of D Street at Downtown Disney West Side.

Tomorrow I'll get off my lazy butt and take some pictures.  I did get to meet Chip Foose. What a nice guy. Look forward to seeing him again tomorrow.

Awesome show!! All the cars looked fantastic!! The placement, food trucks, medals and Chip Foose was just too AWESOME!! I'm kicking myself in the rear that I missed out on this event. When and where were the details released to joining the show? I would love to show next year!!

Just got home from Car Masters. Hats off to all the Disney cast members who worked the event, we have great interaction with them through out the weekend. JR and crew, thanks to you for all you did for this event. We had a great time and hope this event happens again next year.

We just got home as well.  Great weekend.  Thanks JR and all the Disney cast members.  Chip Foose is indeed a class act.  Congrats to all of us.  We were all winners.  Can't wait to hear who got the extra trophies.  I have tons of pictures to upload and will post them once that's done.

 What a great event, Once again JR, Mike and Disney did a great job. All might not agree but every year is a learning experience. It was much better than last year and I'm sure next will be better than this year. You guys will probably never make everyone happy. Chip was once again on his game also trying to please everyone.How many celebrities do you think would take that amount of time to answer all our questions,requests and pose for pictures. Can I sign up now for next year?
