Sat. the 3 rd. is the show at the beautiful Silver Springs State Park . Numerous members here from the MCN as well as the Natl`l. El Camino Owners Assoc . are attending . Additional info as well as discounted motel rooms , free pregistration are available at www.elcaminocentral.com in the Region 6 , Fl. forums . A good number of El Caminos have already registered . . You do not need a tricked out ride to join in the fun !
If you don`t subscribe , run out and get a copy of the Sept. issue of Super Chevy Magazine and check out the coverage of the last Super Chevy Show held in Palm Beach . A very nice photos of Jay and his 69 Camino on page 97 and 98 . The National El Camino Owners Association ; which many of us here at MCN are members of , was again awarded the Best Club Participation Award , thanks to your attendance ! The names of awards winners in the magazine included Robert Whipperman , Josh Hanna , Matt Creager , Jay Bernard and Glenn Travers . Super chevy regularily gives ur preferred parking , announces our group on their PA system and gives us nice coverage in their magazine each year . Our next group meet is at the fabulous NPD Oktoberfest in October and we hope as many of you that can , will attend . Derek Putnam from NPD also looks out for us and we are treated with front row parking with shade trees at this event . It is in a location that makes it accessible to many of our more northern members while our southern members enjoy a road trip .
Guys the September issue of Super Chevy Magazine is out with coverage of the SCS in April at PBR. The Mag once again gave the NECOA there place and recognition as winner of the Club Participation Award. Six members were listed as winners in there classes. El Chromeo's picture was in with many other cars form the show.
Lenny thanks for the up date, what a great venue and fun loving people. high gang !!!!
The cruise has been a blast that Randy , Carl , Brad and family , the Sawyer family and I have really enjoyed . Weather has been warm but with a nice breeze . We are having our final show today at Higg`s Beach . The awards and door prizes and hugh 50/50 have been stacked high . Most fun for me was yesterdays police escorted cruise down to the Southernmost Monument then back up Duval streets to the applauds , filming and cheering by the spectators lining the sidewalks . As my brother and I drove in the cruise , people would chant " El Camino , El Camino " and friends and family that came out to the cruise were cheering us on . Would love to have more El Camino next year join in the fun . More info and photos will be posted as the cruisers return home on Monday . Some are staying over a extra day to take the big fast catamaran to the Dry Tortugas National Park some 75 miles west of Key West , then spend an extra night in Islamorada before leaving the keys for home . If you haven`t already , please make plans to join the El Camino group at the ever popular National Parts Depot`s All GM Show in Ocala in October
Looks like we will have 5 El Caminos participating in the Key West Power Cruise next week and would enjoy other Camino owners that live in the Keys or Key West , will come out to check out the events . The P.C. is the creation of MCN members Cheri and Nick Copeland . I drive up north and meet the group in Islamorada for a couple of days of fun before driving with them to Key West for several car shows , cruises and a police escorted cruise down Duval street . An extra treat is that the Mel Fisher Days celebration is going on at the same time . Around 15 vehicles from our Fl. Keys Southernmost Car Club will be displaying their rides on Duval street during Saturday`s celebrations . Our next scheduled El Camino group meet is the ever popular NPD All GM Show in Ocala/Silver Springs in October . Gas is still pretty cheap , sooo come on out and have some fun with us .
We had an fun turnout with 11 El Caminos meeting up at Good-Guys . One highlight was Scott wining a Heritage Award for his 1980 well preserved and stock Camino ! Our next group meet up is the Corvette and Open Car Show in Palm Beach Gardens May 24 at the PGA Resort and Spa . Good -Guys video and photos as well as info on the Corvette Show at www.elcaminocentral.com in the Region 6 , F. forums .
See you at the Good-Guys Show this weekend . Room for more !
GoodGuys is gonna be neato!
Another fun Super Chevy Show was enjoyed by 20 El Caminos , several from the Muscle Car Network . MCN members Jay Bernard earned an Editor`s choice as well as a Best in Class award . Glenn , earned a Editor`s Award and Matt earned a Winner`s Award for their outstanding rides . The National El Camino Owners Assoc. again won the best Club Participation Award . Several members were interviewed and will appear in a fall program on the Velocity Channel . Our next get together is the Good-Guys show in Kissimmee .
